What Rowwise keeps about you
Rowwise works out knitting patterns from your measurements. You sign in with Google or your email, and your projects are kept in your account. This page says what we keep, why, where it goes, and how to have it removed.
In short
- We keep your email and your projects so they open on every device where you sign in.
- Your photos stay on your device. One is sent out only when you ask for a picture of a piece on you.
- We count how the app is used without knowing who you are, and we never sell or share your data for advertising.
- You can delete your account and everything in it yourself, in Profile, Account, “Delete my account”.
Who is responsible
Rowwise is run by WE ARE XYZ DESIGN STUDIO S.R.L., Str. Av. Popișteanu 54B, Bucharest, Romania, company number (CUI) 37500897, the same company behind the naraknits yarn shop. We decide how your data is used, which makes us the data controller under the GDPR. For anything on this page, write to hello@naraknits.com.
What we keep, and why
On your device
The app also keeps a copy of your projects, measurements, tension, motifs, colours, your place in knit mode and the conversation with the assistant in your browser's storage, so it opens quickly and works when the connection drops. Photos of you stay only here, on your device, unless you use one of the features below. Clearing your browser data removes this copy, not your account.
Your account
You need an account to use Rowwise. When you create one with your email or with Google, we keep:
- your email address, and if you sign in with Google, the name and profile picture Google shares with us;
- your projects (measurements, choices, knit progress and the conversation with the assistant that belongs to each project) and your motif library;
- your plan (Free for now) and when your account and projects were created and changed.
We use these only to sign you in and to keep your projects the same on all your devices. This is needed to give you the account you asked for (GDPR article 6(1)(b)).
Pictures of the piece (“See it knitted”)
When you ask for a picture, we send the drawing of your piece, a description of it, the yarn you chose and, only if you added one and chose to use it, one photo of you. Your account is checked first, because these pictures cost money to make. The photo is sent to make that one picture; we do not keep it on our servers. You give this photo by choice, and you can remove it at any time in your Profile (article 6(1)(a)).
The assistant
What you write to the assistant, any photo you add to the chat, and the photos you use to start a pattern from a garment (“Start from a photo”) are sent to an AI model so it can answer you, read the garment and set up your pattern. We do not keep these photos. Do not put things in the chat that you would not want an AI service to read.
Your own yarn shop
If you add a yarn shop by its address, our server reads that shop's public product pages and an AI model picks out the yarns, colours and prices. Only the shop's address is sent, nothing about you.
How the app is used
We count simple events, such as which page a chat message came from or whether a picture was made, with PostHog in the EU. Each browser session gets a random code that is forgotten when you close it; we do not build a profile of you, and we do not send the text of your messages. This helps us see what is useful and what is broken (article 6(1)(f), legitimate interest). Nothing is counted on a copy of the app running on your own computer.
Keeping the service safe
To stop the paid features from being misused, we limit how many requests one account and one network address can make in a short time. Our hosting provider also keeps standard technical logs (such as network address, time and page requested) for a short period to run and protect the service (article 6(1)(f)).
Who helps us run Rowwise
These companies process data for us, only to do their part of the service:
| Service | What it does | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Accounts, sign in, and storage of your projects | EU (Frankfurt) |
| Vercel | Hosting of the app and its servers, and the AI Gateway that passes requests to the AI models below | EU and USA |
| OpenAI | Makes the pictures of the piece | USA |
| Anthropic | Checks that a picture matches your pattern | USA |
| Sign in with Google; the assistant and the reading of yarn shop pages (Gemini) | USA and EU | |
| PostHog | Anonymous usage counts | EU |
When data goes to the USA, it is covered by the EU standard contractual clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
- The copy on your device stays until you delete it or clear your browser. Signing out does not remove it.
- Your account and projects stay until you delete your account (Profile, Account, “Delete my account”) or ask us to. Deleting the account removes it, its projects and your motif library from our servers at once. A single project you delete is marked as deleted and removed from all your devices.
- Photos and messages sent for a picture or an answer are not stored by us after the request.
- Usage counts are kept in aggregate and are not linked to you.
Your rights
You can delete your account yourself at any time in your Profile. You can also ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to limit how we use it, to move it elsewhere, or object to how we use it. You can withdraw consent for your photo at any time by removing it. Write to hello@naraknits.com from the email of your account and we answer within 30 days. If you think we got something wrong, you can complain to the Romanian data protection authority, ANSPDCP (dataprotection.ro), or the authority where you live.
Storage in your browser
Rowwise uses your browser's storage to keep a copy of your work and your session. There are no advertising cookies and no tracking across other websites.
Children
Rowwise is not meant for children under 16, and we do not knowingly keep accounts for them.
Changes
If we change what we do with your data, we update this page and the date at the top. For a change that matters, we tell you in the app before it applies.
